Huzefa Dossaji, VP of Business Development at Certintell Telehealth, typically has a jam-packed day at The Shop at the CAC. When he’s not hosting web meetings with clients and prospective partners, he’s spreading the news about Certintell, a telemedicine solution designed for smartphones, allowing low-income patients, who frequently only have access to the internet through their phone, the ability to connect remotely with their care team. This includes secure messaging and pictures; HIPAA compliant video; scheduling capability (with a virtual waiting room feature); payment processing; and more.
We caught up with Huzefa to talk about the impact of coworking, future Certintell partnerships, and being a founding member of The Shop.
How did you first become aware of The Shop?
I was invited to be a part of the IdeaVillage and NOLABA’s IdeaTour and received a tour while The Shop was still under construction. I loved the concept and am happy to say that I am one of the founding members of The Shop.
What does your day-to-day look like at Certintell Telehealth? Has The Shop’s coworking environment impacted your work?
When I am not traveling, my day-to-day consists mostly of web meetings with clients, prospective clients, and partners. The Shop’s coworking environment has been an amazing experience. I have had the privilege of building a strong relationship with other entrepreneurs in the healthcare space and beyond. In fact, it is through the shop that I met our now Medical Advisor Dr. Shawn Hamilton who attended a Shop Function while visiting from California.
What’s your favorite thing to do in New Orleans outside of work?
Teaching Tai Chi & Kung Fu, experiencing local theatre – especially fellow Shop members The NOLA Project (shout out to A.J. Allegra!), live music… and I consider myself a foodie and wino 😉
What are some exciting projects Certintell has coming down the pipeline?
We are a social impact company and pride ourselves on helping to increase access to care for the underserved.
We are proud to be working with Safety Net Hospitals & Community Health Centers all over the country who utilize our telehealth solution for their behavioral health/substance abuse programs. Three exciting projects include a telehealth/rpm program with the Louisiana Primary Care Association to help role out telehealth and remote patient monitoring to health centers in Louisiana, a diabetes pilot program with four health centers in North Carolina and the beginnings of a collaboration between Certintell, Access Community Health (with fellow Shop Member, Dr. MarkAlain Derry) and Integrative Behavioral Health Research Institute (IBHRI).
