When I moved to Salt Lake City nearly four years ago, I dove straight into the heart of its music scene. My first Twilight concert? Lake Street Dive, performing at the Gallivan Center. The night was fun, soulful, and surprisingly memorable, and I was hooked on Twilight from that first set. Since then, these shows have become a summer ritual: live music, community energy, and that feeling that the season has officially arrived. This week, we’re welcoming Sierra Ferrell to Library Square on Thursday, July 17, and trust me, she’s worth the lore. Ferrell is widely celebrated for her 2024 album Trail of Flowers, earning her Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and four Grammy nominations in Americana categories.
A Roots Music Revelation
From her Appalachian roots in West Virginia to busking in New Orleans and thriving in Nashville, Sierra’s path is steeped in authenticity. Her artistry blends folk, gypsy jazz, ragtime, and honky-tonk—each show an evocative performance filled with energy and emotion.
Don’t expect a muted acoustic set, her live performances are theatrical, soulful, and full of movement. Think twanged vocals, fiddles, and storytelling that feels both wanderlust and whimsical.
