Exploring Azerbaijan: The Land of Fire at The Shop

Earlier this week, The Shop at the CAC had the pleasure of hosting an inspiring Lunch & Learn led by Ziyadkhan Khankishizade, a Professional Fellows Program (PFP) Fellow from Azerbaijan currently working out of The Shop. The session, titled “Azerbaijan: Land of Fire,” offered members a fascinating look at a country where East meets West, a place where ancient traditions harmonize with modern innovation.

In just thirty minutes, Ziyadkhan guided attendees through Azerbaijan’s vibrant story, from its rich geography and diverse people to its centuries-old culture and rapid rise as a global hub for startups and technology. Members learned about the nation’s journey toward independence and peace, gaining a deeper appreciation for the resilience and creativity of its people.

The presentation also touched on the beauty of Azerbaijani music, cuisine, and customs, including celebrations like Novruz, the spring holiday that symbolizes renewal and community.

Thank you to Ziyadkhan for sharing his passion and perspective, and to Global New Orleans and The Idea Village for connecting our community to global voices. Events like these remind us that exploration and innovation thrive when diverse ideas come together — right here at The Shop.
