One of our newer office members at The Shop BK, Timm Chiusano’s TED Talk is live and we wanted to take a moment to share it with our community! Timm’s talk, The Daily Practice That Could Rewire Your Brain, explores how small, intentional moments of appreciation can shape the way we experience stress, relationships, and everyday work. It’s thoughtful, accessible, and rooted in a simple idea: that noticing what’s already working can meaningfully shift how we move through our days.
But, we don’t want to spoil it. You can watch his full talk here:
We love highlighting moments like this because they reflect the kinds of people doing their life’s work inside our spaces. The Shop Workspace has always been about supporting people who are building things, whether that’s a company, a creative practice, or a body of work that asks better questions about how we live and work.
As our Brooklyn location continues to grow, we’re seeing a really dynamic mix of founders, creatives, consultants, and small teams coming together in Gowanus. Some days that looks like heads-down focus, some days it looks like spontaneous conversations in the Commons, and other days it looks like discovering that someone down the hall is putting something meaningful out into the world.
That’s one of the best parts of coworking done right: you don’t need to know everyone’s full story to appreciate what they’re working on. You just need to be in the same place long enough to notice.
Gowanus itself is in a similar moment. The neighborhood is evolving, but it’s still deeply rooted in creativity, independence, and people doing things their own way. We’re proud to be growing here alongside businesses and individuals who are thoughtful about what they make and how they make it.
So if you’re looking for something reflective to watch between meetings or at the end of the day, Timm Chiusano’s Ted Talk is worth your time. And if you’re curious about the kind of community taking shape at The Shop BK, this is a small glimpse into it. We are excited of the blend of smart, engaged, and quietly doing cool things we’ve got going on in our halls.
We’ll keep sharing what our members are up to as our Gowanus community continues to grow.
