October at The Shop is all about leaning into creativity, connection, and all the cozy, spooky fun that comes with fall. From SLC Design Week and creative workshops to pumpkin decorating, community celebrations, and plenty of seasonal treats, there’s something happening all month long to keep you inspired, connected, and in the spirit of the season.
Thursday, October 1 – Crafternoon: Ghost Garland
Get The Shop ready for spooky season! Join us for a creative Crafternoon where you can help us make decorations for the space or create your own ghost garland to take home. A little crafting, a little Halloween spirit, and a fun way to ease into October.
Friday, October 2 – New Music Friday
Start the month with something new to listen to! New Music Friday is the perfect excuse to discover a new favorite artist, soundtrack your workday, and share some musical finds with fellow members.

Monday, October 5 – SLC Design Week: The Inner Life of a Creative: Navigating the Critic & Reclaiming Your Creative Voice
In this interactive workshop, Amy Lukas introduces her Creative Archetypes framework to help designers better understand the inner voices shaping their work. Explore the role of the inner critic, reconnect with your creative voice, and learn practical tools to move through creative blocks with more clarity and confidence.
Tuesday, October 6 – SLC Design Week: Beyond the Hero: Rethinking Stories Through KPop Demon Hunters
What can a K-pop fantasy teach us about branding, archetypes, and authenticity? Explore what happens when the characters we root for aren’t trying to become perfect, but are instead learning to embrace what makes them imperfect. It’s a fresh take on storytelling, identity, and what makes a brand—or a character—feel real.

Thursday, October 8 – SLC Design Week: Rooftop Sound Bath Meditation with Omniiwell
Take a moment to pause during a busy week of ideas and inspiration. Join us for a rooftop sound bath and guided meditation with Omniiwell, created for designers, creatives, and anyone carrying new ideas out of Design Week. Leave with greater clarity around what comes next for you, your work, and the ideas asking to be made real.
Friday, October 9 – SLC Design Week: Creative Mornings
Come listen to Nicole Martinez speak on the theme Altitude, chosen by the CreativeMornings chapter in Toowoomba, Australia. With altitude as a metaphor for elevation, perspective, and aspiration, it’s a fitting way to close out a week centered around creativity, fresh ideas, and seeing your work from a new perspective.

Monday, October 12 – Indigenous Peoples Day
Take some time to learn, reflect, and connect with local Indigenous history and communities. We’ll be sharing local information and resources, including information related to Bears Ears, as we recognize Indigenous Peoples Day.
Tuesday, October 13 – Snack Break: Soup Sippers
Nothing says fall quite like a warm bowl of soup! Take a break from your workday and join us for Soup Sippers—a cozy seasonal snack break designed to warm you up, recharge your afternoon, and give you a chance to catch up with the community.
Wednesday, October 14 – Breakfast: Yogurt Bar
We’re keeping breakfast going with another member-favorite yogurt bar! Grab a bite, settle into your morning, and enjoy a little time connecting with the people who make The Shop such a welcoming place to work.
Thursday, October 15 – Crafternoon: Mini Pumpkin Decorating

Friday, October 23 – Voter Registration Is Due!
