Tell us more about The Baskerville Institute, what do you all do?
The Baskerville Institute is a nonprofit organization committed to fostering and enhancing relationships between Iranians and Americans. Through a variety of community events like webinars, book discussions, and gatherings, we strive to bridge cultural divides and promote understanding between the two groups. Our initiatives continue to grow and evolve steadily.
What are the favorite parts about the work that you all do?
One of the most rewarding aspects of our work is empowering individuals within our community. We take pride in sharing the history of Iranian-American friendships and witnessing the personal and professional growth of our interns and students who engage with our programs.
How has being a member of The Shop Workspace impacted your work and creativity?
The Shop Workspace has had a significant impact on our creativity and work environment. It provides a welcoming space to connect with our supporters, foster meaningful relationships, and collaborate with other nonprofit organizations. The sense of belonging and shared purpose at The Shop enhances our ability to thrive and make a positive impact.
What is a really memorable moment that has happened while working here at The Shop SLC?
A few years ago, we organized a vibrant celebration for the Persian New Year, known as Nowruz. We extended invitations to all our participants and other members of The Shop, fostering a sense of togetherness. The event was a mixture of diverse cultures, with attendees relishing the opportunity to try delicious Persian food while immersing themselves in the beauty of a new tradition. This remarkable gathering left a lasting impression and continues to be well-received by those who attended.
What is your favorite thing about the community we’ve built at The Shop SLC?
The community at The Shop embodies kindness and warmth in every interaction. Engaging in conversations over coffee offers a glimpse into the lives of remarkable individuals who contribute meaningfully to our shared community. The genuine connections formed through these exchanges not only enrich our daily experiences but also highlight the collective spirit that defines The Shop Workspace.
