March was a whirlwind of events and well-deserved congratulations in the entrepreneurial world of New Orleans, with NOEW being at the core of it all. We hosted panels, and Lunch and Learns and even a few Happy Hours! Seeing as we’re the home base for the Idea Village and their cohort mentees, it was so amazing to see our members thrive. Member Franziska Trautman took home the grand prize for the pitch competition for Glass Half Full, a recycling company that take glass and turns it back into sand to be used for construction and environmental protections. (Last year’s winners took home almost a million dollars worth of prizes!!!) Seeing glass recycling in New Orleans is something we know people are going to love.
On top of that, member Kisha Mavryck Richardson won the Governor’s Challenge for her design intelligence company Culture Purveyor Labs, pulling in another $25,000 in prize money for Team Shop. This competition was centered specifically around frontier technologies, such as Web3, Augmented Reality (AR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Funded by the City of New Orleans, this competition for creative technologists, business-minded artists, and forward-thinking entrepreneurs who are committed to build and scale future technologies is intended to connect the New Orleans’ cultural economy into new, global economic opportunities.
And as we transition from winter to spring, so too comes something you either love or hate as a New Orleanian – Festival Season. Our parent company, The Domain Companies, are always supporting local art and business. We kicked off the season strong by being active sponsors for the first three weeks at Wednesday at the Square (and yes, we do all meet up here and walk over together)! Heading into French Quarter Fest and Jazz Fest, make sure you have a comfortable place to work or you could burn out!!
Here at The Shop, we’re going to make sure your weekdays are a nice breath of fresh air from the weekends. Stay informed by following us on Instagram. This month we’re highlighting the Litinx community with events for the Hispanic Chamber Town Hall, the New Orleans Hispanic Heritage Group. We’ll have Black Real Estate Week with the Urban Land Institute starting on the 21st and closing out the month with a special brainstorming session with The Committee for a Better New Orleans, and a ~*SeCrEt*~ pop up comedy show that’s sure to be a blast.
Our day passes to come and work with us in our truly calming and inspiring space are just $35. We’ve got all of the amenities you could possibly need. No need to make a reservation, just bring a card to pay at the front desk when you arrive; it’s that simple.
If you think you’ll be here more than twice a week, it makes more sense to join as a Member, and we can help you with that too! Hope to see you around!
