We’re excited to introduce you to Spencer Stone, one of our vibrant members at The Shop Workspace. Spencer has been a part of our community for several months, bringing a unique blend of creativity and professionalism to our space. Today, we’re sitting down with Spencer to learn more about his journey, his passions, and his experiences here at The Shop SLC. Let’s dive in!
Tell me more about your company, what do you all do?
I am a Technical Consultant working for an applicant tracking system company called SmartRecruiters. I have 3 years of experience building Customer & Candidate Experience programs (previously for Qualtrics) with a focus on complex data integrations. Constructing elegant technical solutions to accommodate complex client requirements is definitely the most gratifying part of my job.
What is your favorite part about the work that you do?
My girlfriend and I recently moved downtown, so The Shop is an easy 5-minute walk for me in the mornings. Working in a fully remote role where I am the only employee in SLC, it can often be tricky to lock in and side-step distractions. Coming here has boosted my productivity in a way that I could not have achieved otherwise.
How has being a member of The Shop Workspace impacted your work and creativity?
In my first few weeks working here, Mike had his going-away party. Even though I had just recently met and started to develop a friendship with Mike, I attended the event ot say goodbye. I was blown away by his testimonial and the outpouring of support from other members as he bid his farewell. After that, I have made a point to invite friends of mine to events and to work with me for the day so that they too can experience the culture of The Shop.
Any advice for fellow members or entrepreneurs considering coworking spaces?
I think anyone considering different coworking spaces needs to consider their objectives: Are you coming to build community? Are you coming to increase productivity? Are you coming to create a better work-life balance? Any of these are a great reason to join and each will inform how you use the space and interact with others here.
What are your top three favorite spots in SLC?
My favorite spots in downtown Salt Lake City are: Khave Cafe for a cup of Turkish coffee & a zen space to relax, Sol Agave for the veggie enchiladas & butter cake, and Suntrapp for a quality boogie.
