Member Spotlight: Elizabeth Converse, Utah Tech Leads

We sat down with Elizabeth Converse of Utah Tech Leads to dive into the incredible work her organization is doing to support economic stability, innovation, and local tech talent across Utah. Elizabeth shares how Utah Tech Leads brings together great minds to shape impactful policies while keeping things fun and engaging. Whether you’re an entrepreneur or considering a coworking space, her insights are a must-read, let’s get into it!

1. Tell me more about your company, what do you all do?

Utah Tech Leads is a trade association, which is a really stuffy way of saying we support economic stability, innovation, and local tech talent through events across the state. I like to tell people we bring good people together to create good policy. We are also sassy as hell, and we like to have fun.

2. What is your favorite part about the work that you do?

Everyone at UTL is constantly exposed to the widest variety of tech companies you can imagine. Every single week we are meeting or working with companies who are integrating AI as a resource, finding new ways to create products sustainably, or those who simply saw a problem in the world and have an overwhelming desire to fix it. It is inspiring.

3. How has being a member of The Shop Workspace impacted your work and creativity?

The Shop has been an amazing partner for our burgeoning nonprofit. We have hosted all sorts of people utilizing the space from dignitaries to, ya know, my grumbly teen who really doesn’t want to be at Mom’s work at 2pm on a random afternoon. We are able to effectively create programs and assist companies – fulfilling our mission.

4. Share a memorable moment or achievement that happened while working at The Shop.

There have been so many I am struggling to come up with a single one.

5. What’s your favorite thing about the community at The Shop Workspace?

It sounds dumb, but everyone here is nice. If they need to be focused, there are separate spaces for that. If they don’t need to be drilling down on something, people talk to one another. We have all made friends here that we plan on keeping for life.

6. Any advice for fellow members or entrepreneurs considering coworking spaces?

Pull the trigger. You have no idea how much more productive you or your company will be while surrounded by others doing the same. The Shop has an amazing culture, and its members encompass every resource you could possibly need.
