At The Shop at the CAC, community is at the heart of everything we do. While we’re known for bringing together entrepreneurs, remote workers, and growing businesses, we also believe in creating opportunities to give back to the city we call home.

Recently, our members and team came together for a Community Sandwich Making Day in support of the New Orleans Community Refrigerator Program. Over the course of the event, we assembled more than 150 fresh sandwiches, which were distributed through community refrigerators across New Orleans to help provide free, accessible meals for neighbors experiencing food insecurity.

It was incredible to see so many members step away from their desks, roll up their sleeves, and work together for a common cause. What started as a simple lunchtime activity quickly turned into an afternoon filled with conversation, collaboration, and plenty of peanut butter, jelly, turkey, and smiles.

The New Orleans Community Refrigerator Program operates a network of publicly accessible refrigerators and pantries throughout the city, making food available to anyone who needs it—no questions asked. Their work is powered by volunteers and donations from individuals and organizations committed to building a more caring, connected community.

Events like this are a reminder that coworking is about more than shared office space. It’s about bringing people together to make a meaningful impact, whether that’s through supporting fellow members, collaborating on new ideas, or giving back to our neighbors.
