Hello, October! Fall has officially arrived at The Shop BK, and we’re leaning into the season with plenty happening around the space. From our first birthday in Brooklyn to tech workshops, cozy breakfasts, offsite hangs, and a little Halloween fun, there are a lot of events to look forward to this month. Here’s what’s ahead:

All Month: Donation Drive
We’re collecting donations (clothing, home goods, etc) throughout October to support local organizations in our community. If you have anything that needs a new home, it’s a great opportunity to declutter and help us give back at the same time!
Thursday, October 1: The Shop’s First Birthday Happy Hour
One year! Join us for a Happy Hour celebrating The Shop’s first birthday and everything our community has built together over the past year.
Wednesday, October 7: Claude Workshop with Ruby Advisory
Join our friends at Ruby Advisory for a hands-on workshop exploring Claude and how it can fit into your everyday workflow. Check out the event page and RSVP here – spots are limited!
Thursday, October 8: Paint n’ Sip Happy Hour
Take a break from the workday for an easygoing evening of painting, drinks, and good company. No artistic experience required.
Monday, October 12: Wellness Setup
Start your Monday with a little reset. Stop by the cafe for a seasonal wellness setup to help you ease into the week.
Tuesday, October 13: Member Breakfast
Fall breakfast, Shop-style. We’ll have a waffle board set up in The Cafe with plenty of toppings to build your ideal morning bite.
Thursday, October 15: Offsite Happy Hour at Alma Negra
We’re taking Happy Hour offsite again! Join us at Alma Negra for drinks, food, and a chance to catch up with fellow Shop members outside the space.
Saturday & Sunday, October 17–18: Arts Gowanus Open Studios
Gowanus Open Studios returns, better than ever, for its 30th year! Hosted by Arts Gowanus, it is Brooklyn’s biggest celebration of local art and artists. The Shop is excited to open its doors to spotlight our community’s artists in residence and other local artists during this weekend. Learn more about Open Studios here!
Saturday, Oct 17: Gowanus Current Screening & Talkback (6:30pm)
The Shop BK is excited to be hosting a screening of Gowanus Current, followed by a talkback with the filmmakers – a perfect conclusion to the first day of Gowanus Open Studios! Learn more and RSVP here.
Tuesday, October 20: Member Breakfast
Stop by the cafe for a midweek breakfast featuring egg bites and a little fuel to get you through the day.
Wednesday, October 21: Happy Media Cawfee Talk
We’re excited to welcome Happy Media back for another installment of their Cawfee Talk! RSVP details to come.
Thursday, October 22: Pumpkin Painting Happy Hour
A little creative time for the season. Join us for drinks and pumpkin painting as we give our pumpkins some personality.
Friday, October 23: Cookie Club
Cookie Club is back, with sweets provided by Sachette’s Bakery once again! Stop by the cafe, grab a treat, and take a well-deserved afternoon break.
Tuesday, October 27: Member Breakfast
Keep your morning easy with a breakfast spread of overnight oats in the cafe. Stop by, grab a bowl, and get your day started.
Wednesday, October 28: Lecture & Sip
Have a niche interest you could talk about for hours? Bring it to Lecture & Sip, where we’ll trade short, silly PowerPoint presentations about the things we’re passionate about. Low stakes, high enthusiasm.
Thursday, October 29: Brooklyn Builders x The Shop Haunted House Building Happy Hour
We’re getting into the Halloween spirit with Brooklyn Builders. Join us for a hands-on Happy Hour as we build some haunted houses.
Friday, October 30: Costume Contest
Close out the month in costume. Come dressed up, show off your look, and you just MIGHT win some prizes!
