Utah Business, in partnership with Rocky Mountain Power, honors businesses in Utah with a focus on environmental sustainability every year. This year, they honored The Shop SLC the Green Business Leadership award!
The Shop Workspace made history in Utah by opening as the first carbon neutral shared office space in the city. Developed by The Domain Companies and The Giv Group, The Shop spans three floors and boasts a rooftop deck with the perfect city-meets-mountain view SLC is known for. Anchoring The Exchange, an infill and transit-oriented development project won through a city RFP, The Shop exemplifies how co-working builds community. Teams large and small come together under one roof to share furniture, technology, coffee makers, and ideas – bringing a new vision to the Downtown Salt Lake City economy.
The Shop has also championed sustainability beyond the build itself with a series of partners and initiatives. Starting with a relationship with Momentum Recycling and Atlas Disposal to appropriately recycle all possible materials, even as additional challenges arose. These partnerships also cemented their role in the surrounding communities via commitments to provide local products for purchase in the marketplace and sponsoring the nearby GREENBike station – in addition to providing The Shop members with a GREENbike savings.
Continuing the support of local, The Shop Members and Guests alike can also rely on a robust beverage offering from local purveyors, including a custom espresso blend and roast from King’s Peak, cold brew on tap from Daily Rise, and a neighborhood favorite – Salt Lake Roasting Co for drip. The workspace’s roots grow deeper with outreach to eco-oriented nonprofits like the Green Urban Lunchbox, a MyCommunity partner, and the Utah Sustainable Business Coalition. The emphasis on environmental conservation is simply a daily mindset The Shop Salt Lake City.
