Why We Celebrate Pride in June

For the last fifty three years, June has been dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride all month long. It began with years of oppression and unrest bubbling to the surface as The Stonewall Riots started in the summer of 1969 in New York City. This pivotal event is often credited with being the catalyst for the larger gay rights movement through the 70s and into today. An extension of this movement led to the creation of Equality Utah in 2001. In the twenty two years since, Equality Utah has worked tirelessly toward their vision of a fair and just Utah. As we ring in our twenty second Utah Pride month, we have created our own Equality Utah Guide to Pride to make sure you make the most of June.
Equality Utah’s Guide to Pride Weekend
Thursday, June 1st
Cosmic Disco: Equality Utah Kickoff Party TRINITY THE TUCK | $19.99+
Join us for the Cosmic Disco Pride Kick Off Party! Ticket sales help support the Equality Utah Political Action Committee. Headliner performance by RuPaul’s Trinity the Tuck and hosted by RHOSLC’s Lisa Barlow. The event will highlight and boost the EU PAC Fight against anti-LGBTQ+ legislation. Show times are at 9:30 & 10:30 PM. Meet and greets available at 8:30 PM, tickets sold separately. Additional performances by local queens programmed as well! Friday, June 2nd
Piper Pride Rainbow Party | $10
Join us at Piper Down for the Piper Pride Rainbow Party! Rock your rainbows loud and proud, best dressed is taking home $100. Expect raffles and prizes galore! Proceeds benefit Equality Utah.
Pride March + Rally | Free
The 2023 Utah Pride Pep Rally Kickoff and March starts at 6:00 PM! Featuring all things, “Unapologetic”, it will be led by local Queerleaders and Foolsballs Players to get you pumped and ready to ra-ra-rally. Music, chants and powerful speakers (including our own, Olivia Jaramillo, Director of Public Outreach) will stun and set the tone for the festival this year. All are welcome!
Loud and Queer Concert | $30+
Featuring Icona Pop, head to the Loud and Queer Concert at Washington Square! Be some of the first to step foot on the brand new and improved Utah Pride Festival grounds to enjoy a stacked evening of music and fun. Joining Icona Pop, performances by Trixie Mattel, Anabel Englund, DJ Raffa Mafra and more expected!
Saturday, June 3rd
Utah Pride Festival | $15+

Sunday, June 5th
Utah Pride Parade | Free
The Pride Parade is Utah’s largest LGBTQIA+ event! Free and open to everyone on the streets of Salt Lake City, join nearly 150,000 spectators and participants to create a spectacular change to be unapologetic! Be sure to check out the new route and plan for fun!
